Bio

Dr. Autry specializes in supply chain management strategic and operational initiatives, with specific interests in the selection and implementation of supply chain technologies and in supply chain security-related issues. Additional areas of expertise include the impact of technology on inventory management and the design of supply chain networks based on strategic technological and communicative capabilities. His research has been presented at numerous professional and academic meetings and conferences in the U.S. and abroad, and has been published in a number of leading academic journals such as the Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, and International Journal of Logistics Management, among others. He is also the author of chapters in three prominent marketing and supply chain management books.

 

Professional Activities

Dr. Autry has memberships in the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the Warehousing Education and Research Council, the Decision Sciences Institute, the Strategic Management Society, the International Social Network Research Association, and the American Marketing Association, among several other organizations. He serves on the editorial review board of three scholarly journals in the fields of marketing and supply chain management, and has participated as an ad-hoc reviewer for seventeen other publications and proceedings.

Dr. Autry has also served in an advisory capacity for four Fortune 500 firms and various small and/or startup businesses on strategic supply chain management issues related to technology implementation, procurement, outsourcing, and distribution strategy. He has taught seminars and professional development courses, as well as regular university courses, at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels in the U.S., Germany, China, Canada, and Singapore. In addition, Dr. Autry is one of the co-founders and directors of the national Supply Chain Management and Industrial Distribution (SCMID) symposium. In addition to his academic experiences, Dr. Autry has held positions in IT consulting and retail and restaurant management.

As the result of his professional and scholarly activities, Dr. Autry has won a Caterpillar Research Fellowship, and was named a “Rainmaker” in supply chain management by DC Velocity Magazine in 2005.
